                                      Rebuilt unit with crank, conrods and pistons assembled in the block. It uses Hepolite pistons and Vandervell bearings. The block surface is refaced to ensure complete flatness. Water and Oil plugs are removed and the block is chemically cleaned. Finally the block is repainted.

1700cc FORD X-FLOW ENGINES

 

Where we list full engine installations, these are literally engines and ancillaries (all new) from the bellhousing forward.  The only items not supplied are those peculiar to a particular car, such as throttle cable, exhaust manifold, or coil.  Apart, therefore, from oil and water, the engines are ready to start.  Bear in mind that, at first sight, this might look like an expensive option, but there are a lot of small items that will be tiresome to locate at breakers, etc.  Unlike some other engine suppliers, our installations do include a clutch and alternator because we feel these are essential items that need to be fitted correctly.

Should you wish to use any second-hand parts, you need only order the new parts as required.

1700cc 145hp Specification Engine

 

Not unlike our 135hp unit. The extra 10hp is obtained by using the Kent 244 Camshaft. This cam shifts the power upwards. You will see in the power curves on page 21 the difference between this unit and our 135 unit. However this unit is by no ways a race unit. It still remains a pleasant unit to drive, particularly in a lightweight kit car. The other major changes are the use of our Maxiflow 1A head and the use of ARP big end bolts. Includes Lighten & Faced flywheel.

Ford 1800cc/2000cc Zetec Engines

The Ultimate Kit Car Engines

 

These are without doubt Ford’s finest production engines.  When modified these engines will produce superb performance with great reliability.  Your car will then have an engine to take into the next century! We offer several versions of both the 1800 and 2000 units. These engines are built using new units.  The smaller 1800cc unit does not offer the same torque as the 2.0 unit but remain a lively and free revving engine.

 

All our parts can be used on the customer’s unit and if required we can rebuild second hand engines.

 

The engines listed below come complete with flywheel, clutch, Ignition Pack, and the NEW OMEX Ignition Systems.

 

165hp Engine.

            This is the ideal unit for most kit car owners. It drives superbly offering great performance throughout the Rev range. Complete unit with a modified Twin 45 DCOE, s and the New Weber pre-programmed Alpha 3D Ignition system including a throttle position kit

            Fully modified engine incorporating a fully modified Big Valve head, Twin 45 DCOE, s and our Vulcan cams, VZ001.  Using the combination of the Big Valves and relatively mild cams this engine remains surprisingly tractable.  It uses the normal hydraulic cam followers and comes with a fully mapped Weber Management System.

195hp Engine.

            This engine has been designed for both road and competition use.  Comes with 48DCOE,s and our Vulcan VZ002 camshafts. On this unit we use mechanical cam followers.   The reduced weights of these allow the engine to rev’ more freely.  This allows the VZ002 cams to be used to their full extent.  For the same reason the flywheel is lightened and the whole engine is very finely balanced.  Comes with fully mapped 3D Ignition system.

Cylinder Heads

 

We are able to offer two units on exchange these have been extensively developed on our Flow Rig.  Both these units use all new components and are fully gasflowed and polished.

             Fully ported and polished to obtain optimum CFM.  Valve seats are recut to three angles and the standards valves are reprofiled. Comes assembled ready to use with standard camshafts [not supplied]

*Please Note. We use the latest technology when cutting our three angle valve seats. So accurately are these seats cut that the valves do not require lapping.  In fact lapping the valve reduces the efficiency of the sealing.  All major manufacturers, BMW, Porsche, Fords to name a few, use this technology.

 

High Spec Reconditioned Heads

 

For our customers that want just a bit more power and at the same time have their cylinder head reconditioned. On the assumption that the valve guides and valves are serviceable. We replaced the valves and cut the valves seats to three angles. The head is refaced and then chemically cleaned before re-assembly.

This service is only available on the customers unit.

Carburettors, Inlet Manifold, Ram Pipes, Linkages and K & N Filters

 

Not all Twin Carburettor kits will fit every single Vehicle. Kit Cars in Particular need the correct inlet manifold and Carb set up to ensure correct installation.  Inlet Manifold manufactured by different companies varies in length and angle.

 

This wide-bodied Westfield can be fitted with all types of engines.  The OHC engine with twin carburettors on our short inlet manifold can retain the carburettors within the bonnet.  However you must have the correct ram pipes and filters. This also applies to the ROBIN HOOD Car.  However whenever possible it is advisable to have the carburettors protruding through the bonnet into fresh air.  Fresh air will be much denser and therefore produce a much better running engine. We will be happy to advise on all these issues and of course all the other type of Kit Cars.

 

Golden Rules for Carburettors and Ram Pipes

 

q  Carburettors must not be over tightened on the inlet manifold. This causes frothing.

 

q  The end of the ram pipes must have at least 30mm clearance before any obstruction, either from the vehicle or the air filter.

 

q  For instance twin 40dcoes fitted with the standard ram pipes [38mm in length] must be fitted with air filters with an overall depth of at least 68mm, i.e. K & N filter No 56.9265.

 

This DAX Cobra will accept our 2.8V6 engines, Rover V8 or the 2.1 OHC units.  A 160HP OHC engine produces great performance at good price.  Again check you have the right length of inlet manifold fitted.

 

 

 

Standards Ram pipes lengths are as follows:              Work out your clearances accordingly.

 

This Tiger Super 6 requires an inlet manifold to raise the carbs above the chassis rail.

This is the single Weber carburettor version of our CVH Engine. The standard engine produces 90hp in XR3 spec’. Our unit offers a substantial increase in power without any loss of torque.

 

The spec’ of the engine tested was per our normal unit, plus a rejetted Weber and K & N Filter.

The overall increase in power is 34%!
